Blackberry took a step as done by many other vendors. They are more often released flagship product to gain market before releasing a cheaper product for mid-market or down market. After presenting a full QWERTY on Q10, and now Blackberry released Blackberry Q5 with half the price of the Blackberry Q10.

PACKAGE SALES & FEATURES

In the sales package of Blackberry Q5, there are Handset, Charger, Data Cable, Headset, User Manual and Warranty Card. For common features, the Q5 has HSDPA, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, Browser, Java MIDP, Internal GPS, Application Navigator, Camera, Video Call, External Memory, Email, Music Player, Video Player, Video Recorder and FM Radio and OS Blackberry 10 .

DESIGN

Blackberry Q10 is the successor generation of the Blackberry Bold Series, while Blackberry Q5 forward Blackberry Curve series that has a more economical price as seen on the QWERTY keyboard which has a distance equal to the Curve series, not as a closer Q10.

Unlike other products on the Blackberry, Q5 battery attached to the body of the phone so that the user can not remove the battery easily. SIM and memory card slots can be seen from the outside only by opening the cover located on the right side of the phone.

DISPLAY

Blackberry screen and the Q5 has the same resolution as Q10, making this smartphone has a pixel density higher than the Samsung Galaxy SIII and almost the same as the retina display of the iPhone 5. Therefore, Q5 Blackberry screen displays sharp graphics and comfortable to read text even smaller size.

Blackberry Q10 uses AMOLED panel while the Q5 uses an IPS panel which has a contrasting look inferior compared to Q10. Color quality and viewing angle also remains good.

OS & UI

Such as Q10, Blackberry 10 operating system views at the Q5 has a slight change and adjustment than when it was first released on the Z10 as aspect ratio screen, 16: 9 on Z10 and 1: 1 in Q5. For example: Z10 displays array of applications in grid format 4 x 4, while the Q5 in the order 4 x 3.

Margin down area on the Blackberry Q5 screen is wider than the Blackberry Q10, thereby making it convenient when users running applications minimized because the area is the starting point of the fingering. Many control systems can be performed via the touch screen so that some of the main buttons like Back, Menu, Call and End eliminated.

SPECIAL FEATURES

Blackberry added BBM Video features on BBM 10. This feature can be used to do video chat through BBM and allow users to share the same screen for both. In addition, Blackberry Hub feature that serves to present any communication from the user to use BBM, Email, SMS, social media accounts such as Facebook and Twitter, and phone calls.

Q5 also present on the Blackberry Maker Story feature, Feature Story Maker can be used to make video clips for users who have a hobby in the field of videography and cinematography.

HARDWARE

At Q5, Blackberry lower clockspeed by 20% from the previous 1.5 GHz on Q10. By using this specification, the Q5 can provide satisfactory performance for users. In addition, the Blackberry 10 no restrictions on the amount of memory to install the application. And this is interesting because users can install apps if still have room for storage in memory. Blackberry Q5 design to optimize the performance of the hardware so that the performance and the quality remains satisfactory.

CONNECTIVITY  & BROWSER

Although Blackberry Q5 is one of the midrange smartphone, but the Q5 has a fairly comprehensive connectivity as well as on smartphones kinds of Hi-End. There are NFC that allows users to send and receive data by attaching Q5 with other devices that also have NFC support.

For explore the Internet, using a browser Q5 features like support for Flash content, Desktop Mode, Multi Tab Browsing and Private Browsing. There are also interesting features, namely: Reader Mode. Reader mode changes the display page of the site so just leave the important content such as images and text.

VIDEO & CAMERA

Q5 is only the latest generation of smartphones from Blackberry which uses 5 MP camera and has 3 main modes such as camera, video recorder and Time Shift as well as on the Blackberry Q10 and Blackberry Z10.

For the Time Shift feature, when activated will make the camera captures some moments when shutter is pressed so that the user can get the best moment desired. This mode is most appropriate to use when capturing a moving object or a group of people who sometimes become imperfect because one member of blink, close their eyes or frown. ADVANTAGES & WEAKNESSES

• Advantages: Q5 uses Blackberry OS 10, BBM 10 features and the Blackberry Hub, the cheapest price among the latest generation and use Full QWERTY Keyboard.

• Weakness: Screen Ratio Blackberry Q5 looks weird when used for watching video and mobile body using a plastic material that makes this smartphone looks like a lower-class smartphone.

 

CONCLUSION

Although sold at half the price of Blackberry Q10, Q5 users can still enjoy the thrill of the new operating system from Blackberry and use the iconic QWERTY keyboard. But, this smartphone can be said to have a design that looks cheap, using different screens, and a decrease in processor speed compared to Q10, although still delivers good performance and fairly good quality.
