Popularity PMP (Portable Multimedia Player) can be said to be down, due to unable compete with smartphones and tablet devices that equipped with a wide range of multimedia capabilities. However, although the decline was not making Sony to give up in produce latest PMP called the Sony Walkman Sony Walkman E580 and E380. If viewed from the capabilities and design, two PMP device is launched against the iPod Nano which had previously been circulated in the market.

Sony Walkman E580 comes in a premium design that is equipped with a 2-inch screen and a battery that is claimed to be able to put on plays music up to 77 hours. Made with 2 different memory variants, 8GB and 16GB. This Walkman equipped with diverse reading ability of audio and video formats such as MP 3, WMA, Linear PCM, AAC, HE-AAC, FLAC, and Apple Lossless audio, AVC, MPEG4 and WMV 9 video. At this PMP also given a series of feature noise canceling MDR-NC31 for perfect audio quality.

Sony is also presenting the latest technologies in this type of PMP users to indulge in listening to music like Clear Bass, Clear Stereo, Clear Phase and Virtualphones Digital Processing Technology (VPT) which is able to present a quality audio quality as it is commonly applied to the recording studio.

For the cheap version of Sony Walkman E580, Sony also brings Sony Walkman E380 with a smaller body design. Equipped with the ability to play up to 30 hours of musing, Walkman E380 also comes in 2 variants 4GB and 8GB internal memory. But, Sony Walkman E380 only supports audio and video with WMV9 and audio formats MP3, WMA, Linear PCM, AAC, HE-AAC, FLAC, and Apple Lossless.
